Roderick is a client at Lighthouse Central Florida who has taken orientation and mobility training and is currently enrolled in our access technology classes.

These classes are particularly useful to Roderick since he is currently enrolled as a student at the Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University's Law School here in Orlando.  Roderick will be among the first students to graduate from FAMU's law school who happens to be visually impaired.

Summary:  

Dining in the Dark is one of our most popular events on the calendar. This unique dining experience is co-hosted with our partner, Second Harvest Food Bank, and is meant to offer an immersive experience into a world of smell, taste, sound and texture--all in total darkness!

This year diners will be treated to a multi-course, gourmet meal prepared by professional chefs: Jill Holland, Catering for Good (above left), Kevin Fonzo, K Restaurant & Wine Bar (above center), and Kathleen Blake, The Rusty Spoon (above right).  

Members of the Orlando Police Department’s SWAT team will again serve the delectable meals as they navigate the pitch-black room outfitted in night-vision goggles.
